　　Postdoc in Biomedical Research

　　We offer a postdoctoral position to work on a research project funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation.The project is entitled"Endothelial cell protection in ischemia/reperfu-sion injury:Investigation into the roles of the glycocalyx and the plasma cascade systems”

　　The candidate should have a strong interest and preferably also experience in innate immunity, the plasma cascade systems (complement, coagulation, fibrinolysis), and endothelial cell biology. The project consists mainly of in vitro work with endothelial cells grown in round-shaped micro-fluidic channels under near-physiological, pulsatile flow. We want to investigate plasma protein binding to the endothelial glycocalyx under different flow conditions and on endothelial cells from different anatomical locations.

　　Candidates should have recently obtained a PhD in a relevant field (e.g. immunology, biomedical sciences, biochemistry, or related fields). Also candidates with a background in biomedical engi-neering and experience with microfluidic techniques are welcome to apply. Expertise in confocal microscopy, endothelial cell biology and innate immunity / immunology is a plus. Excellent knowledge of English is required, German is a plus. The position is available immediately and will be for 3-4 years.
