Postdoctoral position available at the Johns Hopkins Pathology Department in Baltimore, MD.

We have a postdoctoral position available immediately at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine to explore the intersection of virology and immunology to characterize the HIV latent viral reservoir. The successful candidate will work primarily with a dynamic group of students, post-docs and investigators from the Johns Hopkins University and the National Institutes of Health. The work will initially include cutting-edge techniques such as next-generation sequencing, laser capture microdissection, multiplex immunofluorescence, and single-cell genomic analysis. The comprehensive analysis of the latent viral reservoir on the cellular level will also incorporate analyses of large datasets. The studies will advance our understanding of how latency and clonal expansion are maintained and more importantly will define therapeutic targets in an effort to cure HIV infection.

Previous molecular biology experience is required and experience in any of these techniques, as well as experience working with large complex datasets, would be a plus. After the initial projects, the possibilities for future research in this project are numerous. The position is extremely well-funded and ideal for a candidate interested in pursuing a K-training grant. Therefore, the position could be a good jumping off point for an independent career for a new PhD graduate, or even someone with a couple years of post-doc experience.

The applicant should have a Ph.D. or M.D. degree, demonstrated successful research experience and publication record, and work well in a team. Excellent verbal and written English communication skills are essential.

Please email with the subject line “Potential Post-doc candidate for HIV+ cure” your current curriculum vitae; a short one page cover letter stating past research experience, general research interests, and career goals; and names and contact information of three references in a single pdf file to:
