　　Postdoctoral Associate

　　The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at Virginia Commonwealth University has a postdoctoral research associate position immediately available. The research involves the study of the renal mechanism of hypertension and related kidney damage, currently focusing on the role of renal sphingosine-1-phosphate receptors in salt-sensitive hypertension, as well as the molecular mechanism of hypertension-induced kidney damage. Several animal and cell model systems will be used in these projects and many state-of-the-art techniques are available, such as telemetry blood pressure recording, Laser-Doppler blood flowmeter, servo-control of renal perfusion pressure, in vivo molecular imaging, confocal microscopy, flow cytometry, fluorescent microscopic imaging of living cells, LC/MS, ESR spectrometry, patch clamping and ion channel reconstitution. MD, PhD or equivalent degree is required. Applicants must have proven skills and experience in biochemistry/molecular biology. Basic knowledge of cardiovascular/renal physiology and experience in animal experimentation are desired.
