　　Job Summary

　　The Davidson laboratory at the University of Pennsylvania/Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia is currently seeking a creative and dedicated individual with a strong passion for research to join our innovative laboratory. Our lab offers an exciting opportunity to work in a pioneering, collaborative, inspiring and dynamic environment.

　　Housed in the Raymond G. Perelman Center for Cellular and Molecular Therapeutics, research in the Davidson lab is focused on understanding the basis for neurodegeneration in inherited brain diseases and applying that knowledge towards the development of therapies. When established methods are not available, novel cell and animal models are developed. Using both gene and small molecule therapies as research tools and potential therapeutic interventions, she and her collaborators have developed novel vectors for approaching brain delivery.

　　Applicants should have a PhD and/or MD (or equivalent) degree, and relevant experience in virology, lentiviral vectors, vector purification and demonstrated expertise in both protein biochemistry and molecular biology. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, possess strong problem solving and critical thinking skills and have the ability to work independently, exercise discretion and communicate effectively.

　　Job Responsibilities

　　1. Conduct independent scholarly research and develop new methods and protocols

　　2. Participate in project planning, recording and evaluation of data

　　3. Acquire technical, lab management and grant writing skills

　　4. Participate in seminars, lectures, poster sessions and presentation at national meetings

　　5. Supervise junior lab members

　　6. Assist with other research projects

　　Required Education and Experience

　　• A terminal degree PhD, MD, DVM, etc.

　　• According to the CMS (Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services) a copy of diploma or transcript is required as proof of academic achievement for all non-laboratory personnel performing non-waived POC testing
