A postdoctoral position is open effective immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Shashank Dravid with emphasis on glutamate receptor neuroscience and neuropharmacology. We are studying the roles of NMDA receptor subtypes and glutamate delta receptors in neural circuitry using a multidisciplinary approach including genetic models, electrophysiology, ex vivo optogenetics, behavior and chemogenetic modulation of behavior. We are interested in studying how glutamate receptors control function of specific neural pathways critical for behaviors relevant to mental and neurological disorders. Eventually the goal is to identify novel approaches to target these non-canonical glutamate receptors to restore normal function in a disease state. We are interested in a highly motivated individual with a strong neuroscience background and technical experience preferably in electrophysiology, in vivo surgery and behavior, confocal imaging, biochemistry or molecular biology.
