摘要:

Postdoc in Ultrafast Optics in the mid-IR based on Gas-filled Hollow-Core Fibers

Technical University of Denmark - DTU Fotonik

The Fiber Sensors & Supercontinuum Group at DTU Fotonik, Department of Photonics Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark is seeking a highly motivated and talented postdoctoral candidate in the field of novel optical materials and ultrafast nonlinear optics using gas-filled hollow-core antiresonant fibers.

Responsibilities and tasks
The postdoctoral fellow will be part of the project Hi-SPEC: “HIGH Resolution multi-species SPECtroscopy based on gas-filled antiresonant fibers for ship gas emission monitoring” in collaboration with CREOL, The College of Optics and Photonics, University of Central Florida, USA. The position involves both experimental and numerical work on developing a tunable laser in the mid-IR using a gas-filled hollow-core antiresonant fiber for the detection of CO2 and SO2. At the end of the project, the final system will be tested in real conditions outside the lab.

As part of the project, the candidate should visit for a short period the Microstructured Fibers and Devices Group in CREOL where he/she will work on silica hollow-core fiber fabrication and characterization.

In addition, the candidate will be involved with the fabrication of functional multimaterial fibers using the unique fabrication facilities at DTU Fotonik. Therefore, basic knowledge in optical materials and fiber fabrication is considered an advantage.

Qualifications
Candidate should:

  • have a (M.Sc and) PhD in fiber-optics or material science.
  • have experience with fiber-optics and in particular hollow-core fibers
  • have strong knowledge of ultrafast nonlinear optics theory
  • be experienced with experimental characterization of fibers in the mid-IR
  • have evidence of producing excellent experimental work in an optical laboratory
  • have knowledge of numerical tools such as Finite Element Method, etc.
  • have experience with optical materials and fiber fabrication
  • have excellent writing and communication skills
