  所属节点 : 国外博士后招聘

Post-Doctoral Fellow: Riverside, CA, United States

The ION Lab at the University of California Riverside has developed novel tools and technology to measure/inspect single cells and single molecules. For the first time, we can evaluate heterogeneity within hard-to-study biological systems and, also, at extreme experimental conditions. The candidate will work primarily in California but opportunities to travel will also be present. The project is in collaboration with Centro de Astrobiología in Madrid, Spain (NASA’s Astrobiology Institute) and aims to elucidate melanin molecular kinetics when exposed to UV radiation. Work will be focused on microbial systems which live in high UV environments.

We are hiring a post-doc with a Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical physics, biology, chemical engineering, bioengineering, biophysics, or a related field. Experience in photochemistry, photobiology, or photosystems within a biological context are especially encouraged to apply (but not necessary). Candidates with experience in any one of the following are also highly encouraged to apply: molecular characterization, fast molecular kinetics measurements, single cell microbial genetics, patch clamping single cells, any single molecule technique, and “cell-picking” strategies. At minimum, candidates should have experience in fluorescence microscopy and an interest in studying single molecules using cutting edge technology. Exposure to DNA sequence data and analysis is also anticipated. Post-docs with quantitative backgrounds are also especially encouraged to apply.

The post-doc will quickly generate several papers and patents. Our work is fast-paced, exciting, and very original.

This is a unique opportunity for several reasons. First, you will be a member of an international team of scientists. Second, you will learn about new high throughput single cell, single molecule, and sequencing technologies. You will combine biochemistry, molecular characterization, genomics, and sensor technologies. Third, you will be working in a cutting-edge field (single cell characterization with applications to astrobiology, nanotechnology). Finally, University of California Riverside has one for the fastest growing Bioengineering programs. UCR has its origins as the UC Citrus Experiment Station and has grown to an R1 (R1: Doctoral Universities – Highest Research Activity) University part of the UC system. Riverside is also known for having the world's most important research collections on citrus diversity and entomology, as well as science fiction and photography. Located within driving distance to LA, Palm Springs, San Diego, and multiple National Parks, it is a convenient location where living expenses are significantly lower than the rest of southern California.

Applicants should email a CV to kfreedman@engr.ucr.edu. The position should be filled and start working by October 1st, 2018. We encourage applicants to apply quickly. Note that this ad expires August 18th.Applications will be accepted after this, until position is filled.

Keywords: photobiology, ultra-violet radiation, UV kinetics, protein kinetics, single molecule and single cell technology, nanotechnology, nano, biophysics, Raman, biochemistry, post-doc, sequencing, genomics, biosensors.…
