　　Job Description

　　Two postdoctoral fellow positions are available to investigate the structure and function of mammalian ion channel signaling complexes using electrophysiology, protein chemistry, and mass spectrometry-based proteomic approaches. We seek highly motivated and creative postdoctoral researchers to participate in research on structural and functional studies of mammalian ion channel signaling complexes. The currently investigated ion channels include the large conductance calcium-activated potassium (BK) channels, the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptors, and the two-pore channels (TPCs). We are particularly interested in: 1) exploratory identification of novel ion channel auxiliary or regulatory proteins; 2) investigation of the biochemical and biophysical mechanisms underlying the channel modulation by new auxiliary or regulatory proteins; and 3) exploration of physiological and pathological roles of newly identified ion channel auxiliary or regulatory proteins.

　　Successful applicants are expected to perform experiments using techniques and skills in two or more of these: i) mammalian cell culture; ii) protein expression, purification and characterization; iii) mass spectrometry-based proteomics; iv) electrophysiological patch-clamp recording on cultured cells or brain slices; v) rodent animal care, surgery, and behavior studies. Applicants should have a PhD degree obtained within three years. Prior extensive experience in patch-clamp recording, mass spectrometry (label-free & isobaric labeling quantification), or protein structural biology will be preferred. Skills in bioinformatics or computer programming will be a plus.
