Research Assistant in Biomedical Engineering

Computer Science and Electronic Engineering

The School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering and the Essex BCI and Neural Engineering group are pleased to announce this Research Assistant position in the Horizon 2020 project NEVERMIND (http://www.nevermindproject.eu/), which aims to empower people who suffer from symptoms of depression related to a serious somatic disease (such as myocardial infarction, leg-amputation, cancer, and kidney failure) by placing them at the centre of their mental healthcare.

Duties of the Role

The Research Assistant will conduct research on the use of advanced machine learning techniques, developing algorithms to process and extract information from biomedical signals and data.

You will also investigate the use of the algorithms to improve the performance of the decision support system (DSS) developed by the other investigators within Nevermind and you will produce papers, articles and reports as appropriate to career stage.

Skills and qualifications required

The successful candidate will be expected to hold a relevant masters level degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or similar or be close to completion. You are also expected to have experience of applying machine learning techniques to biomedical signals and/or images, as well as good programming skills and strong communications skills.

Please note this post is fixed-term, part-time until 31 December 2019.
