Job Description

The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine's Department of Cell Biology has an exciting career opportunity for an Assistant Scientist. This is a third level research position that will support research activities under the direction of a Principal Investigator or Program Director. Specifically, the duties and responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to, designing mutant mouse strategy, manipulating ES cells and embryos, and producing mutant mice; overseeing the breeding and production of compound mutant mice, monitoring the genetics and genotyping of the mouse colonies; participating in the designing of experimental procedures, data interpretation, and submission of manuscripts; and responsible for general laboratory management and ordering of supplies. 

The minimum qualifications for this position are as follows: Ph.D., M.D., or other doctoral level degree in a life science field of study and at least one year of relevant postdoctoral experience.
