Postdoctoral Fellow

Postdoctoral Fellow Opportunity – Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory – Long Island, NY

Our laboratory is seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral fellow with strong skills in functional genomics and cancer biology. Our team is comprised of experimental and computational researchers developing innovative in situ and single-cell DNA and RNA sequencing technologies in intact cells and tissues. Our goal is to isolate, image, and spatially characterize single cells based on their genetic or epigenetic signatures. We are currently investigating the role of small RNAs in regulating the rDNA loci during stem cell quiescence and how cell-cell interactions influence the exit from quiescence in development, aging, and cancer.

We are looking for a candidate interested in studying disseminated quiescent/dormant cancer cells in mouse and human tissues, including microenvironmental gene expression signatures and the T-cell receptor repertoire. The candidate will spatially reconstruct the disseminated cancer cell history using somatic mutations or T-cell receptor sequences in mouse and human pancreatic cancer specimens from our collaborators at CSHL. The candidate will be co-mentored by Professor Doug Fearon on tumor immunology. The candidate will also work with clinicians and computational collaborators on modeling tumor evolution and assist in experimental validation efforts

Position Requirements

Education: The applicant is expected to be in the process of completing or have recently completed a PhD degree in cancer biology/genomics or related areas.

Experience/Skills: The candidate should have a strong background in cancer or molecular biology and interested in developing or utilizing single-cell or spatial sequencing technologies using mouse/human disease models. Experience in R programming or biostatistics is highly desirable, and the candidate must demonstrate fluency in working with high-dimensional datasets. The candidate will be trained in our spatial sequencing techniques for detecting somatic mutations and transcriptional signatures, microscopy, and data visualization. The candidate should be curious and stimulated by challenging problems and new experimental approaches.

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory offers a highly collaborative social and scientific environment as well as a competitive salary and benefits in a beautiful location about one hour from New York City.
