摘要:

MRC Postdoctoral Research Scientist
Gut Signalling & Metabolism/Metabolism & Gene Regulation groups
Fixed-Term, 3 years
£35,340 – £38,181 pa inclusive*
London, UK

A 3 year postdoctoral position is available at the MRC London Institute of Medical Sciences (LMS) to work in the Gut Signalling and Metabolism/ Metabolism and Gene Regulation groups headed by Professor Irene Miguel-Aliaga and Dr Santiago Vernia. The LMS is an Institute funded by the MRC and is a Division of the Faculty of Medicine, Imperial College. We are located on the Hammersmith Hospital Campus in West London (W12). The Institute has first-class facilities and provides investigators with the opportunity to pursue innovative, multidisciplinary research within the excellence of Imperial College. For more information, visit https://lms.mrc.ac.uk

Our goal is to investigate the molecular networks involved in maintaining metabolic homeostasis, and explore how they contribute to metabolic pathologies such as with Type 2 diabetes (T2D) and obesity when dysregulated. Current research interests include the characterization of alternative and constitutive RNAsplicing programs involved in metabolic homeostasis. These studies will be underpinned by multidisciplinary approaches combining genetics, physiological and behavioural assays, metabolic profiling, TMT-proteomics, iCLIP and RNA-seq analyses, and will make use of genetically modified mice and Drosophila melanogaster as model systems.

You must hold a PhD (or equivalent experience) in a relevant life sciences or biomedical discipline and have a strong interest in metabolism. Extensive experience in molecular biology techniques is essential. A proven publication record, with at least one first author publication in a peer-reviewed international journal is also essential. Expertise in cell signalling, metabolism, and/or mRNA splicing would be an advantage. You must also have the ability to develop and apply new concepts, have a creative approach to problem solving, and be able to write clearly and succinctly for publication.

This is an MRC Postdoctoral Scientist position providing training and development supporting post-doctoral scientists in early or changed career paths helping establish them as successful research scientists in their chosen field. The MRC is a unique working environment where our researchers are rewarded by world class innovation and collaboration opportunities that the MRC name brings.

For full details of this post and to complete an online application, visit https://mrc.tal.net/vx/lang-en-GB/appcentre-1/candidate/postings/947 and upload your CV, names and contacts of two scientific references along with a covering letter stating why you are applying for this role (providing evidence against the requirements of the job as per the job description and person specification).
