Starting salary from £28,936 - £33,518 per annum with further progression opportunities to £36,613.

The Faculty of Science and Technology is seeking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic postdoctoral researcher to undertake a significant role in the delivery of high-quality outputs for the Research Excellence Framework and contribute to the writing of applications for prestigious research funding. Based in the Department of Life and Environmental Sciences, this is an opportunity for an excellent and accomplished researcher to lead departmental research focused on the impacts of anthropogenic stressors on animal migration and their mitigation by management actions.

There will be some focus on anadromous fishes, especially Atlantic salmon, although work will be completed on a wide range of migratory taxa. Research approaches will include field studies as well as literature reviews and meta-analyses, working with our academic staff to produce high-quality peer reviewed outputs for publication. There will also be some opportunities to support PhD students and to work alongside collaborating project partners.

You will have demonstrable research experience in migration ecology, aquatic ecology and/ or the ecology of anadromous fishes. You will be self-motivated and able to work using your own initiative, as well as in a team. You will need highly developed communication skills and to be able to work under pressure.
