One postdoctoral position is opened in the Statsyuk research laboratory at the University of Houston College of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacological and Pharmaceutical Sciences. The Statsyuk Laboratory is in a brand new research building that houses excellent research space. We are looking for highly motivated and self-driven postdoctoral fellows, who are willing to learn new interdisciplinary techniques and apply their scientific knowledge to a) conduct structural, mechanistic, and cell biology studies of ubiquitin and autophagy enzymes, and b) develop small molecule probes that target these enzymes to test therapeutic hypotheses. We work in close collaboration with Texas Medical Center to conduct both basic research and translational science. Our research group is highly interdisciplinary end employs such techniques as chemistry, biochemistry, protein chemistry, mammalian cell culture, masspectrometry, Cryo-EM, and protein crystallography. Many of our research directions are synergistic with MD Anderson Cancer Center Moonshots Programs. Ideal candidates should have chemistry or chemical biology training, and be familiar with recombinant protein purification, enzymology, PCR, high-throughput screening, biophysical techniques, and cell culture.
