摘要:

Research Assistant in Neuronal Cell Biology and Enzymology

University of Oxford - Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics

UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD - Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics, Laboratory of Molecular Neurodegeneration, Le Gros Clark Building, South Parks Road, Oxford

Applications are invited for a research assistant neuronal cell biologists or enzymologists to work on a collaborative partnership between the ARUK Oxford Drug Discovery Institute (ODDI), the Oxford Parkinson’s Disease Centre (OPDC) and FORMA Therapeutics.

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to work at the interface between academic and pharmaceutical research and play a role in discovering new therapeutic approaches for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease, by combining sophisticated neuronal cell systems and assays developed within the University of Oxford with industrial medicinal chemistry expertise.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the management of their own laboratory work and will work closely alongside other scientists on joint projects. Duties will include running biochemical assays, including for example measurements of enzymatic activity/inactivation, kinetics and target engagement and measurement of analytes; adapting existing and new scientific methods to targets of interest; analysing scientific data from a variety of sources; using appropriate hardware and analytical/statistical software; recording and presenting experimental data clearly; and contributing technical input to scientific discussion, reports and publications. You will possess excellent practical expertise in one or more disciplines relevant to the projects, including neuronal cell isolation and culture, analysis of enzyme kinetics or assay development, and be able to conduct rigorous work in established research programmes.

Applicants must hold, or be near completion of a BSc or MSc or equivalent in neuroscience, biochemistry, pharmacology or cell/molecular biology, together with relevant practical experience.

The post is funded for 2 years in the first instance and will be based in the Laboratory of Molecular Neurodegeneration, Le Gros Clark Building, South Parks Road, Oxford OX1 3QX.

Informal enquiries may be directed to Dr John Davis (john.davis@ndm.ox.ac.uk).

The closing date for applications is 12.00 midday on Thursday 24 May 2018. Interviews are likely to be held on the week commencing 4 June 2018.
