摘要:

Postdoctoral position for translational bioinformatics or molecular cancer biology

Employer: Wang lab at University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute

A postdoctoral position is available at Wang Laboratory of the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, University of Pittsburgh. The individual will be working on integrative computational genomics initiatives aimed at identifying pathological genetic aberrations, predictive biomarkers, and therapeutic targets from cancer genomics datasets, as well as developing novel bioinformatics tools and models to predict therapeutic responses of targeted therapies and immunotherapies. The candidate will receive multidisciplinary training on computational genomics, molecular cancer biology, and translational research. The candidate must hold a Ph.D. degree in the Biomedical Sciences. Preference will be given to highly motivated candidates with an outstanding publication record in cancer research, and those with established expertise in bioinformatics or molecular cancer biology. The candidate may choose to work on translational bioinformatics, or molecular cancer biology, or both.

The research topics for translational bioinformatics include: 1) Develop novel mathematical, statistical, and artificial intelligence (AI) models, as well as bioinformatics tools, to predict therapeutic outcome of targeted therapies and immunotherapies on the basis of deep sequencing and single cell sequencing datasets. 2) Perform integrative analysis of deep-sequencing datasets, and integrate these datasets with drug sensitivity datasets to identify predictive biomarkers for targeted therapies. 3) Catalog pathological genetic alterations in cancer through integrative analysis of whole-genome and transcriptome sequencing datasets.

The research topics for molecular cancer biology include studying genomic rearrangements, predictive biomarkers, and targeted agents in clinically intractable breast cancers. The primary responsibilities will include experimental validation of newly discovered cancer targets and predictive biomarkers, characterize their molecular basis, confirming their role in tumor initiation, progression, and therapeutic resistance in vitro and in vivo, elucidating their action mechanisms, and exploring clinical applications.

Wang laboratory is a computational genomics and translational cancer research lab at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, Department of Pathology, University of Pittsburgh. The long-term goal of this lab is to apply a multiple disciplinary approach inclusive of computational genomics, molecular cancer biology, and translational studies to identify viable cancer targets and predictive biomarkers, as well as developing the bioinformatics tools for genomics-based cancer precision medicine. For more information, please visithttp://www.cagenome.org/lab.

Interested candidates should send the application to Dr. Wang using the application form below, and upload their CV, a cover letter indicating their area of scientific expertise, a brief statement of past and future research interests, and the names and contact information of three references. Review of applications will begin immediately until this position is filled.
