Applications are invited for 1 Post-doctoral position to be involved in the “Development and characterization of polymeric nanocomposite porous materials to be used in the treatment of contaminated waters.”

We are looking for a motivated scientist with novel and creative ideas, focused and determined. The position will be focused on the development of porous polymeric composite membranes and foams able to indicate and to selectively remove typical and emerging pollutants from water, such as oil, industrial chemicals, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, micro or nanoplastics etc.

The candidate must have:
PhD in one of the following areas: Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Polymer Science.
Experience in the development, processing and characterization of polymer nanocomposites.
Experience in the development and characterization of porous materials such as foams and membranes.
Experience in water remediation applications
Excellent track record of research publications

Following experience will be highly appreciated:
Foaming methods and electrospinning
Experience in the development of membranes for desalination
Surface science
Morphological and spectroscopic characterization techniques

The research activity will take place in the Smart Materials Group of IIT that is based in Genoa, Italy.

The research of the Smart Materials group deals with the development of new composite materials by combining various synthetic or natural polymers with micro or nanofillers or organic molecules. The main research lines of the Smart Materials Group are Green and Sustainable composites, Graphene nanocomposites, Smart composite materials for sensing, Surface engineering and adhesion, Multifunctional polymeric foams and aerogels, Smart Fabrics and Paper, Materials for Safe Environment, Food packaging, Materials for Regenerative Medicine, etc. Close collaborations exist with industry, university departments, and other research centers in Italy and abroad.
