A Post-doc position in molecular biology available from January, 2018 in the group of Damian Graczyk at the Institute of Biophysics and Biochemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw, Poland.

A Post-doctoral fellow is sought to work in a young, developing team focused on the regulation of RNA polymerase III transcription and its role in mammalian cell physiology. We are studying the impact of transcriptional misregulation in pathological conditions such as cancer. The current project, funded by the Foundation for Polish Science First TEAM programme, aims to decipher the role of RNA polymerase III in colorectal cancer. We will use genetic, biochemical and genomic approaches to determine how increased RNA polymerase III activity contributes to tumorigenic properties of colorectal cancer cells both in vitro and in vivo.

Requirements

The successful applicant will:
- hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology or related field obtained not earlier than 2012 or will be close to obtain it (no later than December 2017);
- have a very good scientific track record, proven by publications in internationally recognized scientific journals;
- have very good experience in culturing mammalian cells;
- have very good hands-on experience in molecular biology techniques;
- be highly motivated and enthusiastic, capable of working both independently and within a team;
- have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and fluency in spoken and written English;
- be well organized, eager to learn new techniques and ready to assimilate literature of the field.

Not mandatory, but beneficial skills will be:
- experience in RNA manipulation,
- previous experience in working in a cancer-related field,
- hands-on experience with FACS,
- experience in laboratory animals (mice) handling.
