Post-Doctoral Associate

University of Maryland

Applications are invited for a Post-Doctoral position in membrane biophysics at the University of Maryland Institute for Bioscience and Biotechnology Research (IBBR) in Rockville, MD. The Post-doctoral fellow will work in the area of experimental biophysics. He/she will be involved in the characterization of interactions of antimicrobial peptides with lipid membranes by performing measurements using surface-sensitive and scattering techniques. IBBR is a premier research institute focused on the characterization of protein structure/function relationships, biomolecular engineering and disease pathways and targets. The Institute is a joint research enterprise between the University of Maryland College Park, the University of Maryland Baltimore and the National Institute of Standards and Technology, situated in the heart of Maryland’s Biotechnology Corridor. It has an outstanding group of scientists and engineers focused on basic and translational research, and strong ties to the NIST Biomolecular Measurement Division and the NIST Center for Neutron Research.

Minimum Requirements: A Ph.D. in a relevant field of Physics or Chemistry is required. The successful candidate would have demonstrated expertise in at least one of the following experimental methods: electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, surface plasmon resonance, neutron or Xray reflectometry, or small-angle scattering.

Preferences: Familiarity with data analysis software such as LabView, Matlab or equivalent are desirable.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications.

Applications: Applicants should send their Curriculum Vitae, Cover Letter and names/contact information of three references to: https://ejobs.umd.edu/postings/55166
