The Hiesinger laboratory studies the design principles and cell biology of synaptic specification and synaptic maintenance. This position relates to the project area 'Cell biology of synaptic development in the visual system of Drosophila'.

Job description: This is a postdoc position in Drosophila neurogenetics. The project area has components in genetics, molecular and cellular neurobiology, live imaging of brain wiring in Drosophila, biochemistry and computer-aided modeling. Independent work, teaching and guidance of PhD students and MSc students are part of the responsibilities.

This position comes with the opportunity to develop personal scientific qualifications, including the German Habilitation.

Requirements: PhD in Neurobiology.

Desirable: 1. Strong background (Phd) in Drosophila research; 2. Experience with confocal microscopy; 3. Experience with basic biochemistry; 4. Experience with molecular biology 5. Excellent spoken and written English.
