New postdoctoral positions are open in the research group of Dr. Marcia B. Goldberg at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital. The Goldberg laboratory focuses on defining the mechanisms of interactions between bacterial pathogens of humans and the host, with the goals of identifying critical processes in infectious diseases, developing novel diagnostics, and advancing new therapeutic paradigms for combatting these diseases. The laboratory uses cell biology, molecular biology, and genomics to acquire new insights into the mechanisms of infection and into the host innate immune response and cellular response to infection. We focus on a variety of devastating bacterial pathogens that cause human disease, including Shigella species, the #1 cause of diarrheal disease worldwide.
