Postdoctoral Position to Study Molecular Neurosciences in Songbirds
Employer: Neuroscience Center, LSU Health Sciences Center
Location: New Orleans, Louisiana, USA
Salary: In accordance with NIH Guidelines
Position Type: Full Time
Organization Type: Academia
Job Type: Postdoc, Postdoc Fellowship
A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the Neuroscience Center, LSU School of Medicine. Our laboratory studies the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying speech and language development and related neurodevelopmental disorders such as autisms using songbirds as a model. In particular, we study neural circuit development, sensitive period plasticity, and vocal learning in zebra finches using a multidisciplinary approach. Current projects include investigating gene and epigenetic regulation of dendritic and synaptic development, neurogenesis, and vocal learning behavior.
Energetic and self-motivated individuals with a recent PhD in molecular neuroscience or related fields are encouraged to apply. Broad experience and expertise in molecular cloning, gene regulation, epigenetics, Western blot, viral work, immunostaining, confocal imaging, and animal behavior are especially desirable. Excellent written and oral communication skills and organizational skills are required.
Interested candidates should send a CV, a cover letter describing research experience and interests, and contact information for three references.
