A postdoctoral position in RNA chemical biology is available in the Disney group in the Department of Chemistry at The Scripps Research Institute. Successful candidates will have a proven track record of publishing in high impact journals and expertise in organic synthesis, nucleic acids, medicinal chemistry, or chemical biology. S/he must be able to work as a member of a team.

The specific focus of the position is on the rational design of small molecules that target RNA for use as both lead therapeutics and chemical probes of function. In particular, the approach will be applied toward diseases that have no known therapeutic or to which there is poor prognosis with current treatments including inherited neuromuscular diseases such as ALS and muscular dystrophy or highly resistant cancers.
