Postdoctoral Scholar - Phytoremediation
POSTDOCTORAL SCHOLAR POSITION AVAILABLE IN PHYTOREMEDIATION - PLANT AND MICROBIAL BIOLOGY- UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, BERKELEY
The Department of Plant and Microbial Biology at the University of California, Berkeley, has an immediate opening for one (or possibly two) Postdoctoral Scholars in Norman Terry's Phytoremediation Laboratory. The researcher will join a multidisciplinary team that is working on developing effective phytoremediation / bioremediation technologies for the cleanup of sites contaminated with a variety of pollutants that include petroleum hydrocarbons, PAHs, heavy metals and/or metalloids, such as selenium. The appointee will participate in the design and implementation of plant and microbial research projects at the laboratory, greenhouse and field levels with a view to developing innovative clean up technologies for specific on-site pilot projects.
Basic Qualifications
Candidates must have completed all degree requirements except the dissertation or be enrolled in an accredited PhD or equivalent degree program in a field such as plant ecology, physiology/biochemistry, molecular biology, or soil microbiology at the time of application.

Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent degree in a field such as plant ecology, physiology/biochemistry, molecular biology, or soil microbiology by appointment start date.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with research experience in microbiology or plant ecology by appointment start date.
Appointment
The targeted start date for this position is September 1, 2016. The initial appointment is for one year, with renewal based on performance and funding availability. This is a full time appointment.
Salary and Benefits
Salary range is $43,692 - $51,120/annually, depending on prior postdoctoral experience and qualifications. Generous benefits are included (http://vspa.berkeley.edu/postdocs).
