A postdoctoral fellow position in Microbiology and Immunology are immediately available in the department of Veterinary Pathobiology, at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in Microbiology, Cell biology, or Immunology. Experience in small animal model and host immune response to microbial pathogens is preferred. The successful candidate will study the pathogenesis of Coxiella burnetii and the mechanisms of vaccine-induced immunity against Q fever. C. burnetii is an obligate intracellular gram-negative bacterium that causes the worldwide zoonotic disease, Q fever. Our research program involves understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms of innate and adaptive immunity against C. burnetii infection in animal models and development of a safe and effective vaccine against Q fever.
