Salary £28,384-£29,566 per annum
Temporary until 31 January 2015
Enteric pathogens (against humans or plants) encode specific cell surface factors that mediate adherence to plants. This Leverhulme-funded project will identify plant cell wall glycans that are recognised by these adherence factors and characterise the basis of the interaction. The post holder will be responsible for defining the interactions between plant cell walls and bacterial surface factors.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in molecular microbiology, biochemistry or plant pathology. It is essential the candidate has experience in host-microbe interactions and ideally the candidate will have experience in glycobiology, and will have worked with Hazard Group 2 bacteria. Candidates will be self-motivated, able to design their own experiments, have excellent record-keeping skills and be able to present experimental data. The post presents an excellent opportunity to join an enthusiastic team in an extremely interesting and novel area.
The post will be based in Dundee.
