2.5 years year fixed term contract based in Sutton (extension to 3 years possible)

Joint Department of Physics, The Royal Marsden and Institute of Cancer Research
(Funded by a National Institute for Health Research Personal Fellowship Award)

Ref: S0074

A Research Fellow is required to join a research project funded by a prestigious National Institute for Health Research award.
The post is full time for 2.5 years. It is based at the Sutton Branch of The Royal Marsden.

The purpose of the project is to use physics, mathematics and computing methods to describe the complex relationship between the benefits and risks of radiotherapy for common cancers. Understanding the relationship between radiation doses from radiotherapy and the risks of side effects is a growing field of interest. This is a unique opportunity to join a project in this exciting area.
Applicants are sought with strong backgrounds in computing and imaging (PhD or equivalent preferred) who wish to apply these skills for the benefit of patients with cancer. Knowledge of Radiotherapy Physics is desirable but not essential.

The post is on the Agenda for Change Band 7 scale (plus Outer London allowance). The post benefits from a fully funded training and development programme, including support to present work at national and international conferences.

Informal enquiries to Dr Ellen Donovan, 0208 661 3484 or email ellen.donovan@nhs.net

Interviewees will be required to give a short presentation on one area of their research. The presentation should be suitable for a non-specialist audience.
