"Dear ***,
Thanks for your email. Congratulations on your many accomplishments.
Your interests and experience  in your PhD studies at University *** are very close to our research concentrations at UCSD. We would like to pursue further the possibility of your coming to UCSD as a post-doc.
We have numerous projects in the area of *** and
***, both for ***and ***.  Many of them
involve *** (我的研究方向) as a component, and I strongly believe that *** (我的研究方向) and other digital techniques will in the future become even more important than they are now in the wireless world.  Many of the projects here also
involve IC design.  I think that you could make an important contribution to our work, and also have a useful experience to gain more breadth in your career.  Post-docs from our lab have gone on to industry (chiefly in the US) or on to
university teaching.  San Diego is also an enjoyable place to live.
Your wife will probably enjoy it too, it is very cosmopolitan.
What is your schedule for a post-doc?  I assume this would begin
shortly after you graduate in June.  Most people schedule to do
post-docs for two years.
I look forward to being in touch.
Regards,
***"

\"Dear ***,
Thanks for your email.  I look forward very much for the opportunity
to work with you.  I think your work on the ***(我之前针对他的一个课题提的一个想法) may be very relevant. In relation to the length of time for the post-doc position, the optimal duration (from the standpoint of your career) is probably two
years.  The job offer from UCSD is invariably for one year (as will be given in the formal offer letter, which you will receive later), with the potential for renewal (up to 8 years). ......
Our university is now essentially closed for the holidays, and will reopen in early January (and I will also be on travel), so we cannot proceed immediately.  ......
I expect that in early January a person from our Department should contact you formally with a request for some documents.  Then, somewhat later,  a formal offer letter will be prepared and sent to you.  In the meantime, apart from the formal process, you might wish to get information about living in San Diego for you and your wife.
I look forward to being in touch early in 2013!
Regards, ***\"

       算是基本上敲定offer了。

       总结前后,和教授只往来了3、4封email便获得了口头offer,教授并没有问我要推荐信和电面,感觉主要原因还是以下几点:

       (1). 个人专业方向和UCSD的研究十分契合,而且我在本专业领域博士期间取得了不错的成果(SCI共7篇,领域内国际顶级期刊IEEE Trans共3篇,Electronics Lett有2篇,等等);
       (2). 和教授email往来中,保持足够的热情和信心,并充分展现自己的专业修养和学术见解,并选择合适的时间点回复email;
       (3). 第三个有利条件是,我11年-12年去Canada的UofC做了半年的访问学生,当时的研究组也是本领域的世界顶尖研究组,当时的导师也是IEEE Fellow和加拿大皇家科学院和工程院院士,并和UCSD的这位导师是同领域内当今国际的两大权威,我估计他俩是认识的(有可能还是知己哦)。所以,UCSD教授看见我简历中我的经历,并在Canada期间有很好的表现,所以便爽快的接收我了。

        以上便是大致经历,希望对大家有点帮助。我现在已经收到正式offer了,下面就等寄来DS2019表和办签证了。希望一切顺利。
